With just two weeks to go until the grand finale, the judges for this year’s ‘Summer of Radler’ cocktail competition have now been announced.
With more entries than ever before, from old, new andprospective Euroboozer customers, the cocktails have been whittled down to 20 semi-finalists, with a social media vote set to narrow the list down to just five finalists, giving the public a chance to choose their favourites ahead of the final (watch this space!), which will take place at Bar Américain at Brasserie Zedel in London on Thursday 11th July.
For the final, we'll have a panel of four drinks industry experts on hand to judge the five remaining cocktails, including award-winning journalist Jacopo Mazzeo PhD; Florian Schmidhuber, Head ofExport at Stiegl Brauerei; Minas Kotoulas, Group Head of Bars at The Wolseley Hospitality Group; and Marta Tokarz, Head of Beverage and Bar Operations at Cubitt House.
Now in its fifth year, the Stiegl ‘Summer of Radler’competition was open to any bartender or mixologist currently working in the UK, with entrants able to use either Stiegl Grapefruit Radler or Stiegl Raspberry Radler as the base of their cocktail creation.
For the judging, the five final cocktails will be accurately recreated by the bartenders at Bar Américain, with each of the judges blind-tasting the cocktail and scoring each of the drinks. The creator of the winning drink will then receive a grand prize of £1,000, plus 365 cans of either Stiegl Grapefruit Radler or Stiegl Raspberry Radler to tide them over for the next year.
Ahead of the final of this year’s Stiegl Summer of Radler competition, Martyn Railton, MD of Euroboozer, said: “We’ve had some really interesting cocktail entries this year, from new, old and prospective Euroboozer customers, using both Stiegl Grapefruit Radler and Stiegl Raspberry Radler. I’m also thrilled with our panel of judges and I can’t wait for the judges to taste the final five drinks and to crown this year’s worthy winner!”
